Our Edinburgh ‘Canal Shed’ volunteer project, a partnership with Polwarth Parish Church, has teamed up with SCOREScotland’s Green Futures Project!
We started the Edinburgh Canal Shed project so local people can connect with the fascinating history and heritage of the Union Canal whilst learning new skills and coming together to share their own skills.
By teaming up with the Green Futures project, the Canal Shed is exploring new ways to tackle climate change and be environmental champions.
Our ‘shedders’ recently joined Zarina Ahmad from CEMVO Scotland for a stimulating conversation about food and climate change, then tucked into a delicious lunch of produce grown by their own hand as part of the project!
Together, the groups have explored where different every day supermarket foods come from and the miles they travel to reach our dinner plates, and will be planning lots more over the coming months.
Canal Shed get-togethers are every Wednesday at Polwarth Parish Church in Edinburgh, from 10am – 1pm. If you’d like to learn new skills and crafts and take part in walks and talks, all for free, please drop by or contact firstname.lastname@example.org!
