“The Trust connects the people of Scotland with the rich heritage and incredible environments on their doorstep.”

I’m Diana and I’m the Chief Executive of the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland (RCAHMS) and of Historic Scotland. I’m currently a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of both Scotland and London, an Honorary Fellow of the School of History, Classics and Archaeology at the University of Edinburgh, and a non-executive director of the Royal Botanic Gardens of Edinburgh, and from the moment I embarked on the study of archaeology at Cambridge University, I’ve been devoted to the study, protection and promotion of Scottish cultural heritage – not least our incredible canals.

I want to see the Trust encourage more and more people to discover and engage with the incredible heritage and 200-years-worth of stories the canals hold.
