“The Trust connects the people of Scotland with the rich heritage and incredible environments on their doorstep.”

I’m Diana and I was the Chief Executive of the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland (RCAHMS) and recently also joint CEO of Historic Scotland (HS). I’m currently a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of both Scotland and London, an Honorary Fellow of the School of History, Classics and Archaeology at the University of Edinburgh, and a non-executive director of the Royal Botanic Gardens of Edinburgh, and from the moment I embarked on the study of archaeology at Cambridge University, I’ve been devoted to the study, protection and promotion of Scottish cultural heritage – not least our incredible canals.

I want to see the Trust encourage more and more people to discover and engage with the incredible heritage and 200-years-worth of stories the canals hold.
