Our volunteers help make the canals what they are – great places for exploring, relaxing, learning and working.
From leading groups along the towpaths by boot and bike or sharing your skills and experiences to help a young person get on the path to work, to capturing some of the incredible stories of the waterways and caring for our waterways environment, there’s a huge number of ways you can get involved.
Whatever your skills or experience and no matter how much time you can spare, you can help us make a real difference to people’s lives – and have some fun in the process!
There are so many reasons to volunteer. As well as helping to safeguard the rich built, natural and culture heritage of Scotland’s waterways, you can:
- Make a difference to the lives of others
- Make change in your community
- Care for the environment
- Be part of a team
- Build confidence
- Gain new skills and experiences
- Meet new people and make friends!
Where can I volunteer?
As Scotland’s national waterways charity, all of our volunteering opportunities are along Scotland’s vibrant canal network. Although volunteering areas and tasks vary, you’ll usually find us in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Falkirk, Inverness and inbetween!
