Today the latest group of young Green Action volunteers graduated from the 12 week outdoor skills training programme at The Falkirk Wheel.
Each programme, a new group of 16-25 year old volunteers who are not in further education, employment or training join us once a week to learn practical training skills outside and earn a range of certificates. While learning they work hard and enhance the area, working on a secret nature trail created by the project.
The group made a huge difference creating benches, ponds, carrying out vegetation management and learning a variety of forestry skills. In total, they volunteered a fantastic 810 hours and their volunteer mentors gave over 150 hours to pass on their own skills and lifelong learning.
Just some of the things the group have achieved are:
– Saltire Award
– John Muir Award
– Youth Achievement Award
– First Aid Certificate
– Water Safety Award
– Green Action Certificate
– Employability Award
The team have been brilliant, and we wish them all the best in the future and on their journey into work, volunteering and education. Watch the video and see what they achieved in just 12 weeks! Thanks guys.
We’re recruiting 16-25 year old volunteers to join us on the next Green Action programme, starting 1st September.
