Could you be our new Youth Outreach Officer in Inverness?
£25,000 pro-rata / 21 hours per week / Fixed Term April 2017 – June 2020
As a Youth Outreach Officer, you’ll be involved in the direct delivery of the day to day group activities of young participants (16-30 years old) and volunteers working on canal side projects as part of our new canal college® project. You’ll be key to the success of the £1.4m project, which is a three year skills and personal development programme for young people on Scotland’s canal network.
You’ll plan, lead and oversee a range of practical projects involving built, natural and cultural heritage in the outdoors environment of the canal network. You’ll be responsible for the health, safety and welfare of all participants and volunteers involved and you’ll provide a supporting role to our Project Manager to ensure all project outcomes and targets are met.
You’ll be highly organised and flexible with a proven ability to think on your feet. You’ll excel in encouraging and motivating young people of all abilities to achieve their potential, including those who may require additional support.
You must demonstrate the ability to deal with difficult or challenging situations with minimum disruption to activities. An excellent working knowledge of Health and Safety is essential for this role.
canal college has been part-funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. In Inverness, canal college will be delivered as a partnership with Barnardo’s Works.
